Twisted Sister Oleander

IMG_6741

Happy Tuesday, and welcome to the debut of the first TWISTED SISTER created by Amy!

Twisted sisters are fairies who are also sweet but they have an edge. They come out at night in Fairyland to have fun after everyone else is asleep! They know the latest trends and the hottest parties to go to! Amy named these lovely sassies after flowers...how cool is that?!!

Today, we've got the adorable Oleander. She looks really sweet, maybe even a bit shy. These twisted sisters are perfect for Halloween, but I wanted to also show how versatile these 'dark' fairies could be.

Used lot of hardware mixed in with soft elements. Found this cool paper with leather-like texture. I was also ecstatic to find these metal letters -- remember those? I think they're from Making Memories. Then, I was also excited to use these pins and a quilled butterfly! The rain are really mini brads. Then I finished it off with dots from a Viva pearl pen (pupils, lining).

Hope you also got to visit Traci Porter, Rachel, and of course, Amy for some Oleander sneak peeks! Stay tuned for another Twisted Sister tomorrow!

BTW, I almost forgot. These twisted fairies will be available at All That Scraps on Monday, September 6th.

Have a wonderful day!

Me = Sweet November Gal!

*****THIS IS MY SECOND POST FOR TODAY. PLEASE GO HERE FOR MY LCOM POST.*****

I have been OVER the moon and back!

Ever since Amy Young asked me to be one of these!

SNGBadge

Truly a dream come true for me as Amy has been a great inspiration ever since I first started stamping back in July of last year! I just adore her Sweet November stamps!

IMG_6573

Today I am featured & interviewed on her blog. (EEEEEeeeeeek!). I was asked for my favorite card featuring a Sweet November stamp. Of course, I just had to make a new one. Some of my current faves are her mermaid creations, and I was dying to finally make some new cards.

Fathom Calmsea is lovely and serene. She is so fun to color, and I adore her long hair. I also love her hair accessories and star belt. For the "sea," I used some paper that I painted during Traci Bautista's class from many years ago.

I am truly ECSTATIC to be a Sweet November Gal for the month of September! It's one of my dream DTs :). For the next few days, I will be joining the talented ladies, Amy, Traci Porter, and Rachel in previewing some new and fabulous stamps! (Boy, I'm quite nervous!...)

They are beautiful, sassy, fun, unique, and perfect for the coming season!!! I am bursting with joy! Please stay tuned -- I promise you will be 'twisting' with excitement as well! :)

Thanks so much for visiting today! It is such a glorious one for me!

LCOM's Pet Challenge

IMG_6739

Good morning everyone! Today is my last post as a Card Designer Team member for Let's Capture Our Memories. It has been a blast and I learned sooo much!

A HUGE thank you to Sandi who has been so friendly and supportive through it all! I've enjoyed my first DT term with the rest of these ladies:

Jerusha Borden
Danielle Casello
Anita Mulcahey
JJ Sobey
Emily Thompson
Melissa Wright
Sandi Johnson (CDT Coordinator)

For this term's last challenge, the goal is to make a card that is inspired by a pet. My card is pretty simple. I used a couple of patterned papers and stickers. The colors match my sister's dog, Apollo.

Apollo is the BEST dog! He's so gentle and friendly. He especially loves to play & run & blink those puppy dog eyes! He is such a good dog and I love him!

My DS just adores him! I think we may just be getting our own darling pet in the near future!

Please post your entry by Saturday, September 4th (already?!!), 12 Noon AST.

Have a great day! I'll be sharing some awesome news later! :)

Bridal Shower Easel Card

IMG_6735

Happy Wednesday, everybody!

I have a quick post for you on a quick card :).

This took me about five minutes to make. I did it as a last minute favor for a co-worker who's throwing a bridal shower.

No stamping involved. Just some Jolee's stickers and papers from a Taylored Expressions Key Ingredients kit.

Made an Easel Card tutorial at LCOM but I'm going to have to share another time.

Hope you are all doing well! I'm kinda glad I've been working (air-conditioner!) because the Bay Area here in Cali have been in the high 90's to the low 100's! Wow, summer has finally arrived!

Sweet Memories

IMG_6571

Hello! Hello!

Today's card features our challenge at LCOM.

This week, your goal is to incorporate fabric in your card-- for my card, it's the middle square.

It's no secret that I'm not savvy with the sewing machine. That is one of my goals .. to learn to stitch on my cards. And maybe, eventually, I could also make my own clothes (wishful thinking!).

The CS & PP are from the Taylored Expressions KI kits (Aug). The stamps are from TGF. I also added some old mesh and brads!

Hope you get to visit the other Card DT's creations as well!

Twinkle, Twinkle Little Star

IMG_6499

Ahhhhh, it feels good to create...

Especially after being on hiatus!

Today's post is about my little booger! Here he is at about 3 months, posing like a big boy for his Christening picture.

He did pretty well during this first professional portrait session ... considering I did ask the studio personnel to put angel wings on him. He he! More on this later!

The other good thing about this lay-out (besides the cute stinker pictured) is that I used old (like really old) products. Having moved, I purged a LOT of supplies but I also found some "aged" ones that needed to be re-debuted. (did i just make up a word?)

Everything (except maybe the lace looking sticker and glitter liner) is at least two years ago. I even added some from my square brads collection. The PP are from American Crafts and the tags are from Simple Jotters. I'm not sure where the lace sticker is from but I thought it added a nice texture -- I even added the remnants and backing strip at the top.

IMG_6502

And remember those mesh paper? Really old, huh? That blue one is from Maruyama. Also added a collection of star buttons, star charms, baby pins (aren't those just darling?), and mini clothespins.

Have a fantabulous day!

My Own Space (to be!)

Taken from my handy iPhone.

The computer is finally working and hooked up. Thought I'd show you the 'before' pic of my craft-room-to-be.

Please excuse the mess. But I'm super excited about this room as I've never posted about my work space before. That's because I never had one! See the bins?? I always worked out of them.

And the small clear ones with purple tops? They currently hold my stamps.

Am thrilled to finally have a scrapbooking room. Today, I googled 'scrapbooking room furniture' on my phone. Good Lawddddd!!! :)

Anybody out there have better tips?

To tell you the truth, I'd like a room that is inspiring but doesn't quite look like a scrapbooking room.

I love April's studio here: (these are her pics and are from her blog)

And Lizzy's (this pic is hers and from her blog)

I love where her ribbons are kept and those cabinets!

I need to call back my painters and re-paint my room those colors -- robin's egg???

I would feel so inspired and relaxed with that color! Problem is, my room would be right next to the living room. There is no door, just a doorway and so, the color wouldn't match the living room decor.

Ok, I'll shut up now. I know there are worse dilemma in the world right now. Am just grateful for our new house!

Maybe I could paint one wall ????? :)

Speaking of supplies and inspiration, did you know about the 1000 sheets of paper blog candy from Amy?

Click on her name for more info!!!

XOXO,

LCOM's Punches & Diecuts

IMG_6459

Happy Monday! You know what that means! :)

Another challenge at LCOM. This week, it's all about die-cuts & punches.

Since everyone seems to be making flowers these days, thought I'd try my hand at it. This was inspired by Dani's tissue flower. It's so pretty and simple. I just used my punch to create several layers, crinkled them and added some collage pauge (my current favorite product).

Sun-Kissed at TGF's BlogHop Part 2.

IMG_6362

Happy 2nd Birthday, The Greeting Farm!!! For me, this is where my love of stamping started. And I'm so glad to be part of their 2nd anniversary customer blog hop again!

I hope you all get to join in on the fun! After visiting my post, please go back to the TGF blog to view the other customers' posts! I am SURE there'll be lots of fun and creativity to see!

For my card, I chose a summer-y theme. I used this bikini-clad Anya (& birdies & sentiment) from the Sunshine kit.

The patterned papers & flowers are from Studio Calico. What I really love about SC is that their kits contain all these beautiful coordinating patterned papers from not one but many different companies! And those dimensional flower embellies are just too cool for words!

And I have to say that I also love these felt clouds I got from Torendi!

Have fun hopping!
